About

the amateur
Hey there! I'm Maurice, 23 years old, born and raised in Germany. I'm currently enrolled at Bonn University within the Asian Studies program and spent my last year studying abroad in Taipei, Taiwan. I like sunsets, romantic candle-light picnics and my hobbies are extreme goldfish watching and not following the manual of prescribe medicine. Ah yeah, of course I kinda like photography.

the project
I started getting a little into photography as a part of documenting my travels around Asia right after high school graduation. At first, I just presented the pictures to my family and some selected friends. However, during my first stay in Taiwan in February/March 2011 I decided to put up this blog, so that family, friends and just people who might be interested could follow my journey.
So why the name Rorschach? The Rorschach-test is the typical inkblot, 'tell me what you see'-thing. But for me you can extend this test into not only photography, but into everyday life. Everything is different for everyone and as such I think Rorschach is a nice metaphor especially for photography.

the equipment
My first camera was a Canon IXUS, compact, point & shoot, which I still carry around if I don't wanna take the big one. I got my first DSLR a Nikon D3000 as a Christmas present back in 2010. Due to the fact that I found some manual glass together with a Nikon F5 on my mothers attic, I upgraded to a Nikon D90 the following year, to make proper news of the discovered gems. Just a year ago my grandfather passed on his old Canon AE-1 from the 70s.
